Bereits zum 5. Mal fand Ende März, am 25.03. und 26.03., unser Train-the-Trainer Workshop statt. Wir freuen uns besonders, dass wir erstmals für einen Workshop in den Osten Deutschlands reisen durften, nämlich an die TU Dresden.

Auf bald zwei erfolgreiche Jahre zurückblicken kann der ErUM-Data-Hub, zentrale Vernetzungs- und Transferstelle für die digitale Transformation in der Erforschung von Universum und Materie mit Sitz an der RWTH Aachen. Geleitet wird das vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) geförderte Projekt von Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Martin Erdmann (RWTH Aachen), Universitätsprofessor des physikalischen Instituts III A (Lehr- und Forschungsgebiet Experimentalphysik).

Vom 26. Februar bis zum 1. März reiste eine motivierte Gruppe bestehend aus knapp 30 Studierenden, Promovierenden und Post-Docs nach Wiehl, wo sie gemeinsam in die Welt des Deep Learning eintauchten und von einem herausragenden SpeakerInnen Team in die Themen „Neural Network Building Blocks“, „Mastering Model Building“ und „Convolutional Neural Networks“ eingeführt wurden.

Mit dem “Workshop on Inverse Problems”, der am 5. und 6. Dezember stattfand, beendet der ErUM-Data-Hub seine Veranstaltungsreihe für das Jahr 2023. 29 Teilnehmende machten sich auf den Weg zum Max-Planck-Institut für Astrophysik in Garching (bei München), um einen Überblick zum Thema „Inverse Problems“ in der ErUM-Community zu bekommen, Methoden zu deren Lösung zu diskutieren und sich mit anderen Wissenschaftler*innen auszutauschen.

The ErUM research priorities at the Large Hadron Collider, the ErUM-Data-Hub and Belle II Germany participated for the first time with a cooperative exhibition stand at the Hannover Messe.

This year, the ErUM Data Hub participated in the Hannover Messe for the first time and invited dedicated participants of the ErUM-Data-Hub Deep Learning Schools. They promptly proved their first-class skills.

We look back on an intensive, exciting and highly educational summer school. The 5 days at Landhaus Nordhelle flew by for the more than 50 participants and the ErUM Data Hub team. The group of students, PhD students and post-docs arrived in Meinerzhagen on Monday, August 8.

An eventful week lies behind us. Over the past few days, the ErUM Data Hub team has been motivated to clear out the moving boxes, put things in order and set up new workstations, and is now delighted with the modern and light-flooded offices at Melatenerstrasse 20 in Aachen.

The second Deep Learning Train-the-Trainer Workshop "Advanced Concepts" took place on June 9 and 10, 2022 at the University of Wuppertal. As a continuation of the first Deep Learning Train-the-Trainer Workshop in Aachen, the topics Graph Neural Networks, Autoencoders, Generative Adversarial Networks and Normalizing Flows were covered in depth.

The first Deep Learning Train-the-Trainer Workshop was a great success. With the goal of training lecturers for future teaching activities and providing material for lectures on the topic of Deep Learning, the workshop took place in Aachen on March 30 and 31, 2022.

In 2022, the ErUM Data Hub, in collaboration with the DIG-UM Topic Board Knowledge Distribution, will host interesting events around the topic of Deep Learning. The workshops and schools are aimed at participants from all ErUM communities and are held at different locations in Germany.
